<< I can confirm that I have found Manchester cathedral marriage records that
are definitely incorrect. Also of interest that this 'wedding mill" wrote out
the register entries well in advance of the event, just leaving blank spaces
for the signatures. Of course this does provide the bonus of a record of
marriages that didn't eventually happen, and some interesting margin
explanations of why! I suspect that day's worth at a time were
transcribed wholesale from a notebook at some point
Could this be the reason why I cannot find a marriage between Julia/Juliana
WARD & William DIXON?
I searched the indexes and only found a JULIA WARD marrying a Daniel NUTTAL
(then Nuttal was crossed out and LUCKMAN was inserted) Mind you this was at
St John's Church, Salford in 1866. But if they can make mistakes at the
Cathedral they could have done the same at St John's---couldn't they?
Clutching at straws again.
