Hi Neil,

Thanks for the interesting message. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me very
much. Mary Elizabeth Hague was my grandmother's grandmother and she
married Henry Scholding at Manchester Cathedral about in 1850. (I can look
up the exact date ). The family had strong Methodist ties, but went to the
C of E for major events -- births marriages, etc., and often to Episcopal
churches in the US. The family group that came to America included all
kinds of brothers, sisters, in-laws, and cousins, so it's quite likely that
other Hague relatives may have came to Jersey City.

I have a photograph of "Grandma" Hague. At first, she looks like a pretty
little old lady with fluffy white hair dressed in Victorian black silk.
But when you notice the look in her pale blue eyes, it wouldn't be hard to
imagine she might be a better mayor of a small city than Frank.
Temperatures are in the 90s and 100s here, so I'm not at my best.

Please send a reply, if any, directly to my e-mail address because I've
been having a lot of trouble with my CompuServe software.

Constance
