I knew this would happen! This is the very reason why List Subscribers must
NOT post messages complaining about the format of messages sent to the List.
Now we have some fairly new people wondering if they have sent their "thank
you" notes in the proper way.
ONE MORE TIME.
**DO send a thank you note to someone who helps you or answers your query.
IT DOESN'T MATTER whether you acknowledge your gratitude publically (to the
list) or privately. Personally, I hold most of those discussions as private
conversations, but that's just my preference. Nobody twisted your arm to
require you to share your knowledge. Public recognition is always nice, but
you can't demand it.
**Do NOT grumble on the open List. Send your complaints to me (polite
language only please!). It is my job to monitor List traffic, not yours!
**If you ever receive a "flame" message from a List member, REPORT it to the
"duty" List ADMIN and send along a copy of the message. Or send it to me.
Even when I'm not on duty, I'm never that far away. I will deal with the
offender, privately, you can take that to the bank.
**DON'T EVER send a "flame" either to the open List or privately. You WILL
get caught and you WILL get cut off the List. If I think there is a
legitimate problem, I will deal with it privately.
**It would be nice if everybody put a meaningful subject line, capiltalized
the surnames, kept on topic, and so on, but it probably ain't gonna happen
in my lifetime anyway. It's pretty simple. If you don't like the format of a
message, don't bother reading it. Remember, you were new once too.
I sure hope we've seen the last of this thread!
