Subject: [LAN] Ramsbottom Railway - STANSFIELD or GORE

I wondered if anyone could help me find some information on my ancestors. I believe some of my ancestors have connections with the railway. I thought the story of my late great uncle might have appeared in a past edition of the Bolton Evening News in the 1950s, but I don't know where to start.
My g-g-grandfather, Charles Stansfield was station master at Bridge Street Railway Station, Tottington Lower End (Ramsbottom, I believe) according to the 1881 Census. My g-grandfather, Charles William Stansfield, was telegraph and booking clerk at the same station. Later, 1907, he was still working as storekeeper on the railway and lived at Clerks Tenement, Holcombe.
My great uncle, Thomas Gore, apparently committed suicide in Radclife by throwing himself under a train in about 1955. I am looking for any information that would help me in my research.
