One of the parishes I am researching has quite a number of 'Easters'. I am not
sure whether this was really the intended name, or whether it was the chosen
spelling of the incumbent who entered it in the registers.
Following the progress of some of those baptised 'Easter' through marriage and
parenthood shows they often become Esther at some stage. It can even go the other
way, where those baptised Esther subsequently become 'Easter'.
I suspect therefore, that the intended name given by the parent was more in line
with Esther than with naming the offspring after the religious occasion.
