Aloha from Paradise of the Pacific,

Request #1: My grandmother, Mary Ellen Johnson, was born in 1882 at 4 Hope
Terrace, Heaton, sub-district of Halliwell. She was the illigitimate
daughter of Mary Jane (Daly) Johnson. I am trying to find information about
my great garanmother, Mary Jane. I thought the best place to start was with
the 1881 census.

Side note. Mary Jane's maiden name was Daly. Where the Johnson came from is
a mystery. Therefore, the census records may have her down as either a Daly
or Johnson.

Request #2: Before she passed away, my grandmother told me that her mother,
Mart Jane (Daly) johnson, was a maid or servant in the household of a family
by the name of Ward. She said that it was one of the Ward boys who got her
mother pregnant. The question is, was there an aristocratic family by the
name of Ward in Lancashire in 1881? If so, where?

That's enough for now. Hopefully someone of you nice people out there will
be able to help me.
