A birth in Dukinfield would be in Cheshire even though it's in the Ashton
Under Lyne ( as opposed to Lyme) Register.

Ashton has always been in Lancashire, but it's registration district has
extended as far as Tintwistle and Middleton.

Why not apply for the entries and specify the parents, that way you'll know
if they are yours or not !
