For those not aware, if you are unable to locate a
certificate for an elusive ancestor; it just might be worth
checking the overseas indexes.

If the parents were in the forces, then even if they were
stationed in England and Wales, many birth registrations
were entered into the military registers and are thus in the
overseas indexes.

Many of these can be searched on line via 1837 online and
they're not charging at the minute to search them.
