I feel this was the case - my ancestors moved from Ilkeston/Shardlow to
Liverpool and must have been influenced by the canal system - there are
many Lacey's in the Shardlow/Ilkeston area and they seem to start
moving as the system spreads - before that they seem fairly rooted to
the spot - this is just a supposition at the moment Im hooping for
proof one day!
