Hi, Sue,
You ask
> Can anyone tell me the connection between Blackpool and Fylde?
The Fylde is the low lying plain that lies north of the River Ribble to the
start of the estuary to the River Lune, perhaps at about Glasson, and
stretches inland to about the present day M6 motorway. Blackpool is a
product of the industrial revolution - a holiday resort at the end of a
railway within easy reach of the mill towns of northern England. Blackpool
lies in the ancient parish of Bispham.
Hope this helps
Jim Lancaster (Bury, Lancs.)
