Subject: a newbie researching WALSH of Over Darwen
Date: Sun, 27 Mar 2005 10:22:39 +1000
Hello everyone and a Happy Easter to you all.
I live in Australia and want to research my husband's family. What I know so far leads me back to his great grandfather who was JAMES WALSH from Over Darwen, Lancs.
On the 1871 census it shows....
JAMES WALSH HD 58 Coal Miner Over Darwen
NANCY " wife 47 "
WILLIAM " son 23 Coal Miner "
JOHN " son 28 Paper Stainer "
JAMES " son 16 Warehouse Boy "
SAMUEL " son 12 Labourer "
THOMAS " son 9 scholar "
ELIZABETH " daur 6 "
What I'm looking for is any information on the head of the family JAMES or his wife NANCY. Is there sks who has access to the 1861/1851 census which might show them.
We're hoping to visit England later this year and perhaps look around the places where they lived, also visit whichever Records Office might be able to help.
Would be greatly appreciative of any assistance or pointers which would help my search.
many thanks
margaret in curl curl, australia
