Many thanks for your message. The earliest Barrlow I have managed to trace
so far is my gt.grandfather James Barlow, born in Halsall abt. 1792, and
living in Simonswood on the 1841 census. There were ather Barlows in the
area, almost certainly related, but I have not yet discovered the exact
link. All were farmers or farm workers.
It seems at first glance unlikely that these are your family, but there were
many of them; I get the impression that all male Barlows were named James,
that each of them had at least two sons also named Jamess, and that all had
wives named Mary!
My direct line moved from Lancs to Yorks to Staffs by 1880.
