Thomas Ripley LACEY b. 1853 was living at 5 Upper Robert Street,
Lancaster, with his parents Alpheus LACEY (a domestic coachman) and
Ann (nee WHEELDON) and younger sister Anne GOLDSTONE in 1861 - Thomas
is described as a Railway Clerk.
By 1871 he was at 16 Ripley Road, Lancaster, with his wife Martha (nee
SPENCER) their one year old son Alpheus Spencer LACEY and his aged
father Alpheus LACEY (an annuitant aged 72) and again described as a
Could anyone tell me which Railway Company he was likely to have been
employed by whilst at Lancaster?
Does SKS have access to any Trade Directories, and have a look up for
me, for any of the years 1860 to 1889 when he was resident in Lancaster
that could offer a clue? Often the name of the rail company is listed
in the directory
The family later move to Skipton and Derby with Thomas rising to the
heady heights of Railway Inspector and later Railway Agent
