It doesn't matter where they are based (though this is 100% based in the UK)
as long as the subject is as described and the language used is common and
agreed.

Of course we should be discussing the Cartmell, Whalley, Fisher, Hargreaves,
Cutler, Dewhurst, Lythgoe, Norcross, Nuttall, Shorrock, Yates, &c families
over the time they lived in Lancashire. We may need to remind our colonial
cousins with a gentle dig in the ribs if they start to discuss the same
families much after they left these shores. On the other hand the naive
questions they ask about the society that was typically Lancashire not that
long ago, can produce marvellous answers that more than makes up for the
occasional diversion across the pond.
