Thank you very much. I will obtain the book. I need to be careful that my ancestor is the same James Collinge who was mayor. There is at least one other James Collinge in the town at the time.
I will definitely visit the Oldham Local Studies as soon as possible. I live in West Devon so it's quite a trip. I gave them a call and you are right - they are very kind and helpful.
