Is there a notation that states he was a Chelsea pensioner? If so he
was discharged from the army for health/ injury reasons. One site I
googled said they could also receive a pension for service in excess
of 20 years. The Chelsea Pensioner records may provide some clues.
Several of my relatives were also with the 8th Foot.
