Try anyway you might think of how to spell Blass - like Glass ? - Jacob
might have had an accent - when he spoke to the census taker they might have
put it down as that - I found a Jacob Glass in the 1860 census, 10th ward,
pg. 914. He might be your Jacob.
I spent ages trying to find my ggg grandfather in the census - I knew he was
here - finially found him as Ricky instead of Riecke.. The german accent to
a french census taker??
