Now that I'm off and running with M. J. Slator, I would like to find some
info on his wife: Ann Eliza KAY.

Her death certificate said she was 42 at death, making her birth around 1832.
It also said she was a native of New Orleans.

Her marriage license was signed in 1859, and M. J. Slator had to pay the
state of LA one thousand dollars!! This is new to me. It was printed on the
form. Wny $1,000? Anybody know?

Well, since I would like to find her parents and then write for a birth
certificate, I am hoping some kind soul can:

1) Look in the 1850 census index and tell me what KAYs were listed in NO.
She should be in the household of one of them

2) Maybe check the 1835 or so City Directory for KAYs in NO.

Then I can send a flurry of letters off in the snail mail again.
