I have always read references to the New Orleans Genesis magazine in the
list but had never taken the time to look at them while at the NOPL. I
recently joined the Genealogical Research Society of New Orleans and today
received my first issue to New Orleans Genesis. While going through it I
noticed the heading "Births, Baptismal and Death Records: German Lutheran
Church, New Orleans 1838-1844- Collection 119 (L-Z and Deaths)". Ok, so I
need to pay more attention to things in the future. There on page 25 was
the baptismal notes on Magretha Monsen, daughter of Peter Monson and
Margertha Vorath. This is my great great aunt, the sister of my great
great grandmother Elizabeth "Eliza" Monson!!!! I have the date of her
baptism and the name of her godparents now.

The next page also caught my attention: Elizabeth Munsen, born October
28, 1840 to Peter Munsen and Margaretha but the maiden name there is
Kondrat. My Elizabeth Monson was also born October 28, 1840 in New
Orleans. Coincidence? Maybe but it sure means I have some more research
to do to see if there are actually 2 Elizabeth's or an interesting twist to
my Elizabeth.

I also looked at the list of back issues that are available and want to see
about getting some but don't know what is in each issue....yet.

I think this is a fantastic magazine and a great investment for me. If you
haven't heard of it or are interested, they have information on their
website, http://www.rootsweb.com/~lagrsno.

Check them out and Happy hunting!
