Russel,
I have the following information on an H. Heikamp in the Civil War. Would
any of the info at Jackson Barracks or elsewhere you know of give me his first
name. I am trying to find out if his first name is Herman and if his wife is
Christine Westphal. I sent for the necessary forms to get his information, but
I believe it asks for his date of birth (born in Germany) and his death date.
I haven't been able to find that. Will they process without all of the
information they ask for? Thanks.
H. Heikamp
Regiment Name 3 Regiment, 2 Brigade, 1 Division, Louisiana Militia
Company G In and out as Private
Film Number M378 roll 13
Another source says 3rd Brig.
Also,
3rd Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, Louisiana Militia
Crute's Compendium contains no history for this unit.
