Russel -

I wasn't in Cen. MS but I was taking photos in a cemetery in Washington, GA
and ran across many BLACKMON's. My uncle, whom I was visiting, told me
later that the Blackmon's were a very prominent family in the area. I don't
know if there is any connection, as this area of GA is east of Atlanta
(almost to Agusta).
But, who ever knows....
