Sorry, I was not clear about my subject line...I meant to change it.
Originally I was writing about the ignorance of people around us. They are
well-educated and of high intelligence. One of the most ignorant comments
someone made to me, when I was sharing my concerns, etc, was that she did
not see what the problem was (with my family in New Orleans) since the storm
missed New Orleans and hit Mississippi instead. When I explained the path
went out for 100 miles every direction from the center, she said 'that is
not very far'. No matter how I tried to explain the path of destruction and
the implications of that it just went over her head, or was outside her
realm of concern. Unfortunately when you have not experienced a storm with
the intensity of any hurricane it is easier to think of it as over and done
with, and not a big deal.....I am sorry I forgot to change my subject line,
and now have to explain it. Too early in the morning I guess.
