Subject: [LAORLEAN] Burns in New Orleans

Hi,

I just joined this list-serve, and am impressed with the friendliness and
details of the group.

I am doing research on a Burns Family in New Orleans where there is a person
called Thomas J. Burns, b. 18 Jul 1855. His parents are Patrick Burns and
Margreth Tiarney. I can see a lot of his siblings and descendants, but I am
not sure about ancesters. Specifically, I want to know when it was that
Patrick came to US. The fact that they are in New Orleans in 1850 leads me
to think that New Orleans was their port of entry. Does anyone have an
opinion about whether that would be a good inference, especially for someone
who is Irish?

Thanks,

Joan F. Schaefer
