Subject: 1820 cenus and location question

I have looked at the 1820 census but am having a hard time determing where
in the Parish my 3G grandmother was living. They didn't list townships as
far as I can tell. I know that the Parish was much larger then than it is
now. Looked at a map from the book "Map guide to the Federal Census" by
Thorndale and Dollarhide. Ouachita ran all the way to the Mississippi at
that time. So where she lived them may not be in Ouachita Parish now.
Which would make a differance in where I search for other records. Any ideas
to help me with this?
