Can someone help me identify a Confederate soldier who was the brother of Mary Guess Eddleman? The inscription on an old tin type picture reads "J.M. Guess the 16 Regiment".

Mary and her husband, John Peter Eddleman, were in Rapides Parish, (the area later became Vernon Parish, LA) during the Civil War. They later moved to Johnson Bayou, Cameron Parish, LA. and Orange Co, TX.
