This is the index from the courthouse - it is on microfilm at the
genealogy library.
It starts shortly after the Yankees burned the courthouse and goes to
the 30s I think.

Which book do you use, Floreda? Is it at the library on Washington
Street? It sounds easier than the index at the courthouse. What years
does it cover, do you remember?

Every few years I make a trip to Alexandria to do family research in the
library. On one such visit I copied selected indices from the marriage
book of Rapides Parish.

The ones I have are surnames starting with these letters:

Ad
Ba
De
Nu
Si
Wa

(I was looking for ADAMS, BAUM, DELANEY, NUGENT, SILLS, WALKER).

I copied those pages so I could come home at my leisure and go through
looking for my families rather than spending my precious library time.

If you need a marriage for a surname that falls within this group, I
will be happy to look it up for you.
