Hello, Sabine Researchers,
I am searching for information concerning the parents of (Elizabeth) Syrena
(BANKSTON) CLOWER SIBLEY, who was the second wife of the Rev. Wm. L Sibley,
one of the early pastors of the Toro Baptist Church near Florien, LA. They
married abt. 1838 in either Washington or Tangipahoa Parish, and came to
Sabine Parish abt 1847. They are buried in the Sibley Cem. nr Florien, LA.
Their children were: Frances Elizabeth b. 1839, m. Matthis SCARBOROUGH;
Louisa Jane b. 1841, m. Lem HOLLAND & John M. CARR; Sarah Lutitia b. 1843, m.
Josiah SCARBOROUGH; Robert D. b. 1845, m. Mary Frances SCARBOROUGH & Forence
E. MOBLEY; and Syrena b. 1848, m. Benjamin Franklin ARTHUR.
I would be happy to share any information which I have concerning the
descendants of Syrena and Wm L. Sibley, BUT my main quest is some clue to
which BANKSTONS in Washington/ Tangipahoa Parish were Eliz. Syrena BANKSTON's
parents. Perhaps someone researching one of these lines has some information.
I am descended from Syrena BANKSTON's first marriage to John Clower, d. 1837,
Washington Parish, LA.
