Hi,
Don't have an answer specifically to this case, but it would be interesting
to look in the coroner's inquest book as well. The coroners used to hold
inquests and hear testimony in any deaths other than those from natural
causes. You might find some help there.
I am familiar with the doctor you speak of and his reputation. From what I
know it would be interesting because frankly, I don't think he was the type
of person to commit murder. He may have been involved in some
fracas--although I find this heard to believe as well--wherein a person was
killed. At that point in time, it would have been normal to charge
someone--there may have been others involved if this was the case.
When I go to Opelousas, I will go to the courthouse and check.
In the meantime, you may know of someone who lives there who could more
easily check than I could.
Good luck.
