I had a response to a posting with an abstract of the will of Samuel
RANKIN in Washington Co, PA:
Rankin, Samuel, Strabane Twp. Book #3 (page 257)
Dated: 20 Jan. 1817
Probated: 26 Dec. 1818
Exec: Samuel Rankin, John Rankin, Mary Rankin
Wit: Robert Anderson; William Hoge
Bene: Sons: John, William, James, Samuel, Thomas; Dau's: Mary, Rachel,
Katherine, Ann, Elizabeth Latta.
We know this was the father-in-law of William LATTA, but was daughter
Mary the wife of John LATTA of branch 5? We know that Mary LATTA was 12
years older than Elizabeth, and the order of listing above implies that
Mary was the eldest daughter and Elizabeth the youngest, but that's only
circumstantial, of course.
The next question will be how did either William *OR* John Latta come to
find brides in Washington Co. Or did they marry back east somewhere
when the LATTAS and RANKINS all lived in the same county? And when we
locate that place, will that lead us to a connection between branches 5
and 3?
Film at eleven.
