Sifting through Robert H. Latta's records I found these County Donegal
origins cited:
Londonderry ... Carrigans, Taughboyne Rectory ... Caisheygowen, Taughboyne
... Taughboyne Church, near St. Johnston ... Bready, St. Johnston.
(There are other origins listed, but I was interested only in County
Donegal.)
By the way, I am sure St. Johnston, Johnstone and Johnstown all refer to the
town we now call St. Johnston.
Lastly, I vote for extending our search to distaff lines. The only
additional surname I can suggest, however, is Melyne -- the middle name of
the patriarch of Branch #1 -- which I suspect was a family name.
