Subject: [LATTA-L] Various LATTAS in Ga, 1850 census
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1999 08:05:37 EDT
I hope someone can help me with a puzzle. I am from Branch 28. I was at the
Archives yesterday looking up Lattas in Ga. in 1850.
I have three problems:
(1) Here is what I found for Alexander Latta. Does anyone know who the last
two children are?
1850 Census, Henry County, Ga. M432-73 42nd District
apge 312, dwelling #355, family #355
Alexander Latta, 60, male, farmer, born in South Carolina
E. Latta, 46, female, born in South Carolina (Ellender?)
(all were listed with initials and VERY difficult to read)
M. I/J. (Jane?) Latta, 17, female, born in South Carolina
J. P. (John Pierson?) Latta, 14, male, born in Georgia
U/W. T.L. (William Thomas?) Latta, 11, male, born in Georgia
M. C. (Mary Caroline?) Latta, 9, male (?), born in Georgia
E. M. (Eliza Moseley?) Latta, male (?), born in Georgia
M. I/J. (?) Latta, five, female, born in Georgia
M. A. (?) Latta, 2, female, born in Georgia
(2 and 3)
Who are these people? I have no idea. I have a Fleming Thompson Latta in my
branch, but he doesn't seem to be the same person as the Fleming listed here.
Obviously they are kin somehow because Fleming isn't that usual a name back
then.
1850 Census, Dade County, Ga.
page 13A, dwelling/family 173
John Latty, 26, male, farmer, born in Tenn.
Francis Latty, 22, female, born in Tenn.
John Latty, 4, male, born in Ga.
Thomas Latty, 3, male, born in Ga.
William Latty (3/12 -- difficult to read), born in Ga.
Also:
page 13 B, dwelling/family 175
Fleming Latty, 21, male, born in Tenn.
Serena (?) (difficult to read), born in Tenn.
Tennessee, 5, female, born in Tenn.
John Latty, 2, male, born in Tenn.
I'm stumped. Can anyone help me with these?
