I'm with you, Doc;
I have made genealogy my life's work, and couldn't be enjoying myself more. Unfortunately, for my branch, #16, I have had poor luck finding remnants of some who emmigrated to USA, Australia and N.Z. Most of my research is done to benefit other branches, and I have enjoyed some successes. This work is almost all done in Ireland, and I have walked a great many cemetaries. Fifteen this fall alone.
On this last trip I have united two unnumbered branches, one of which still resides in Donegal, the other in Australia. I feel strongly that this will also include branch #3, but proof is lacking. This will be posted as soon as I can get it in understandable form.
One of the highlights of this trip was staying with a very distanct cousin in Londonderry. We were brought together by Anne Gilliland Swetland, through the Newsletter, this past spring. Our families had married in the late 1700's, and all contact was lost over the years, as all of my family had left the area. I also had "tea" again, with Miss Elizabeth Hamilton, of the Abercorn family.
If anyone out there is searching the Rankin side of their branch, I have a lot of Stela information, from Donegal.
Happy hunting. Alex., Branch #16. Edmonton
