Dear Treva;
I have just returned from my trip to Ireland, and will relate a part of it to you, as pertains to The Latto brothers. As I suggested to you earlier, it appears quite likely that they are the sons of John Latta, of St. Johnston. Not proven, of course, but they were in the right place at the right time. John Latta, Br. #16, had a tobacco manufacturing business in St. Johnston, about 1790. He also owned a home and some land in other parts of the town. Virginia Curulla had obtained a map showing these locations, which I have a copy of. The place where John Latta had his home is just an empty plot next to the cricket field, but if you look in the right place you can still see fragments of the floor tile where the house stood.
I visited the Engineering shop which now occupies the spot where the factory stood. The owner took me upstairs to his office, and showed me a painting of the factory, as it stood C-1790. He permitted me to take a picture of it, which turned out quite well.
If you are interested in this new information, please send again, your address. I would never find it among my desktop mess. I would then be able to send you a copy of the map, and the picture.
