I am beginning to think that I want to start all over with this branch, and re-document everything. I believe that is the ultimate plan for Latta.org web page. Only one of the members of this branch sent me anything.
I have been slowly sorting out the information brought back from Pennsylvania, especially the documents that I had to photograph, which are still confusing. (Thomas Latta died intestate in 1796)
They seem to be a combination of deeds with signatures of the Penn descendents and Edmund Physick, who was their Philadelphia lawyer and orphan's court records, dated from 1797 through 1803. Here's what I have figured out so far:
Thomas Jr. stayed on the land and paid his mother, Deborah Johnston Latta yearly for her lifetime, 20 pounds, if I have that figured right. The rest of them were paid, and probably signed quit claims or something.
John stayed in Adams County, at least up until 1797 or so.
Jane married John Armstrong and moved to Rockbridge VA
Rebecca was still in York PA, but some time later married James May, and I don't know where she went ( I think she stayed there)
Ann married Isaac Armstrong and stayed in Adams
Elizabeth married Robert Armstrong and moved to Washington Co OH. She apparently died before her father.
Catherine was in Washington Co OH in 1803-my assumption is that she went to help Robert with the child or children. She married James Speer, in 1804. (I assume James was the brother of Robert)
Mary, my ancestor, married Alexander Rowan and moved to Hamilton Co OH
Deborah married William Murray, and moved to Butler Co OH.
One child, Alexander died at the age of 4.
And we think our children move around.
Deborah, the mother, died in 1818 in Alleghany CO PA, . (The will says Washington County, but was probated in Allehany.). She must have been living with one of her children. From the information sent me from Paul Debald, I believe it was Catherine. I found a James Speer in Alleghany Co in 1820.
If this is confusing, it's because I am confused. I posted it in the hopes that someone in my branch will come forward and straighten me out.
