Most of you may have seen this post several months back in the Newsletter, but I believe this new data may help to locate some new information. My great grandmother, Sarah Latta married William Marshall Wilkerson sometime around 1886. They came to Nashville about 1898 and lived here until 1910 before moving back to Jackson Co., Alabama. During their stay here they lived for over a year with a William M. Latta and his wife Rhoda J. Sweeney. I believe that both Sarah and William are twins, or maybe cousins since both were born in Michigan in 1871. I recently located the 1930 census for William and his wife, Rhoda and found something I haven't seen before. William stated on the census that his mother was born in Michigan and his father was born in Canada, French. My question, Can someone tell me if there was a certain part of Canada that was considered French according to the census. This may help me locate some new material as to the connection in the Latta family.
Thanks
George Wilkerson
