Subject: Charlotte Observer Article; which branch Lattas????

Question: Was the James Latta who built the "grand house" at York in 1803
the same James Latta who developed the Latta Plantation in the early
1800's? (I have always assumed they were the same person.)

This quote from the article seems to suggest that there may have been two
James Lattas (relatives) involved - is this an error in the article?

"James Latta, an Irishman, was a merchant prince of the Piedmont in the
early 1800s. He completed the home in 1803. His relatives built the Latta
Plantation in northern Mecklenburg County during the same time period."
