About Nancy Burke Boatright:

we are now not even certain she was married before she married Powhatan
Boatright in July 1826. He gave her name as "Nancy Burk" on his War of 1812
pension application in 1873. Then there is a document that Jim Lee sent us
in which Nancy Boatright sells the land of her mother, Mrs. Molly Burke
(Molly Burke was living next to Powhatan Boatright in 1830 in Claiborne
Parish LA and owned land jointly with Powhatan there). To me, this points to
Powhatan being Nancy's first (and only) husband. If this is correct, who
were the Burke children's parents?

My grandmother (Fabrice Boatright Hudson) stated in her 1981 book on the
Boatrights that Nancy was married prior to her marriage with Powhatan and
that her name was "Nancy Eleanor". None of us have been able to find any
documentation of either of these statements. Based upon the above documents,
I now think my grandmother might have been mistaken about these two items.

Hi gang,
I sure have been enjoying reading the LAUNION Digest and all the good
stuff
Karen has been uploading in the Archives. Thanks, Karen!

I was just wondering if those who have been researching the Powhathan
Boatwright family, if anyone knows what happen to Nancy Eleanor Burk's

children by a previous marriage. Lucinda married Green Davis (my
g-g-great
Uncle) and raised a family in Union Parish; but I need some info on her
sister, Molly and brother, J. J. Burk. Help!

I no longer live at Farmerville (Union Parish). We sold our home there
and
relocated back in West Monroe (Ouachita) in February. I miss hitting
the
back roads and searching the cemeteries.
My next hit will be the Ouachita Parish Library Genealogy Department.
I have heard it was great!
