This was probably taken c1855. the woman is Anna King, she was born 1838 Autauga Co.,AL to Sally Arnold & her 2nd husband William P. King. It could have been taken in AL, either Autauga or Dallas Co, it could have been taken in MS either Carroll or Choctaw Co. In 1850 the Kings lived in Autauga Co near the Dallas Co line, they had left by 1855. It's possible they went to AR before they arrived in MS, Sally Arnolds siblings moved to Hempstead Co.,AR.

By 1860 they were living in Choctaw Co.,MS near the Carroll Co line, near Vaiden. Sally Arnold died that year but William is on the census w/ all the kids EXCEPT for Anna. She & Augustus Laws had married by 1856 when their first child, my great-great-grandmother, was born, their 2nd child was Benjamin Taylor Laws in 2/1860 (named for Anna's half-brother), their last child was Minnie Gustavus Laws 1863-4. By 1870 Augustus was either dead or remarried, Anna was dead & the kids living w/ her sisters in Carroll Co.,MS.

He looks an awful lot like a man in a group photo of Gen. Evander McIver Law taken during the Civil War. Evander had a brother Junius Augustus but he's spoken for. It's quite possible my Augustus went by another name, either his middle name or maybe Augustus was his middle name. So many other folks in this family went by nicknames, some not even remotley close to their real name! Thanks for any leads!! Cindy
