J. W. Ponds Dies; Buried Thursday Near Tullos, La.

J. W. Ponds, 63, of Tullos, Star Route, died at his home Tuesday. Funeral
services were conducted Thursday at the Magnolia Church and cemetery near
Tullos.

Mr. Ponds was born July 20, 1887 at Lauderdale County, Mississippi, moved to
Louisiana in 1919, and to Winn Parish in 1925. A carpenter by trade, Mr.
Ponds was prominent in church and civic activities in his community. He was
a deacon in the Crossroads Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, and six sons, James Otis Ponds, Benjamin Ponds,
Archie Ponds, Elmo Ponds, Dugan Ponds, and Edward Ponds.
