Hi Gregory,
I'm researching Bradys. my g-g-grandmother was Sarah Ann Brady. She
married William R. Bingham (most often known as W.R.) 29 Oct 1851 in
Natchitoches Parish, with A.J. McCrackin, Bryant S. Brady, and Benjamin
Sermons serving as witnesses (recorded 5 Jan 1852 in Misc. Book 44, p. 208)
Her children were Mary Jane, b. 1854, Sarah Elizabeth, b. 8 Jan 1856, and
Melanchthan, b. 1858. Sarah Ann died probably 1858 or early 1859. W.R.
Bingham was married to Matilda Harveston by the time of the census in 1860,
and had a son Asa D., one month old.
The 1850 census for Natchitoches Parish shows Sarah Ann in the household of
MIller Brady (M432, Roll 233, p. 14, Dwelling/Family 222). Unless I have
missed another Miller Brady somewhere, I believe he came to La. from Early
Co., Georgia; and prior to that was in Emanuel Co., Georgia. He married
Sarah Roundtree 31 Jan 1811 in Montgomery Co., Georgia.
As an aside, W.R. Bingham served as postmaster at Lanark, La.
Have not worked on this line for several years; perhaps your post was the
impetus I needed to get started again.
