Hello,
I know that Winn Parish Court house burned in the 1800's but is there any information that I could find on my Hilburn family that was there in 1860 other than the census? I am looking for information on:
Samuel Hilburn who married Emily Bishop in Copiah Co., MS and was in Winn Parish in 1860 along with Francis, Joseph, Isom, Pernia(Penny), Priscilla, Sarah N., Melvina, and David A.
Samuel and his sons, Joseph and Isom fought in the Civil War. Isom died and Samuel and Joseph lived to a ripe old age and filed pensions. Samuel remarried in 1865 in Lewisville ?, Winn Parish to Piety Prudence Adkins Tinsley, a widow. Supposedly, Samuel was a widow at this time also, but none of his other children show up in the later censuses with his new wife. Did they all die?? Does anyone know anything about this family or the area called Lewisville?
