Good evening. I have forwarded the following file to the archives for Jo to post.

Biography: William Jay Smith

Mr. Smith, world famed poet, author, etc., was born in Winnfield and has served as the U. S. Poet Laureate among other things.

This bio includes info about the Faiths, Gaars, Smiths, and some info about Huey Long.

Mr. Smith is about to be recognized by the La. State Library in Baton Rouge for his accomplishments.

After I became aware of his memoirs, "Army Brat", and read it, I wrote to Story Line Press asking permission to reprint some of the excerpts from the book on the Winn Archives. They stated that for the sum of $75 they would gladly allow it.

So, the other day, on a whim, I contacted Mr. Smith in MA where he resides when not residing overseas, and he graciously allowed the use of the excerpts from his book.
