Gilbert D. Clifton born 1819 in South Carolina, married about 1840 in Alabama, died in Winn Parish, LA. Among his children were Millard Fillmore Clifton. I'm trying my hardest to find Gilbert's parents and or siblings, I've come up with a lead that may suggest that his father was a "William Clifton" and his mother a "Rebecca ?". I went hunting for these people and found a William Clifton born about 1785 in North Carolina, married about 1809 in South Carolina, and died in 1850...but where? It listed his wife as Rebecca? born about 1794 in South Carolina, but the only children listed were John Wesley Clifton and Sarah Clifton. If anyone can help me with this mystery, it will be greatly appreciated. I will offer copies of photos of my Clifton ancestors as appreciation. Thank you!
