left Stokes circa 1830 and moved first to Missouri and later to various
parts of the country. If my memory is correct, they started in California
Missouri and some finally settled in a place called Yolo Co. California.
There were three John Lawsons in Stokes Co. in the late 1700's. My great
great grandfather was William Wesley Lawson he left Stokes Co.
mysteriously circa 1873 and was never heard from again. Family legend is
that he went to California. Does any of this ring any bells? Don Simmons
