All,
I visited the David Gordon Cemetery in Gordonsville, AL last week.
It is a small Black cemetery located off a dirt road. My wife's
grandfather (John Collin Lawson; b:5/9/1899; d:2/15/1972) and
grandmother (Zeola Bradley Lawson; b 6/14/1906; d 1/17/1996) are buried
there. One of her great-grandmothers (Annie Gordon Ruffin; b 1889) is
buried there as well. We saw a marker/headstone for a woman named
Josephine Lawson (b 5/20/1873; d 1/24/1951) in the cemetery. John
Collin Lawson's mother was named Josephine...and the dates make sense,
however, my wife's uncle didn't think that the Josephine buried in the
cemetery was his grandmother. I 'spose that I'll need to get a death
certificate to clarify/verify whether or not this particular Josephine
Lawson is related to us. Anyone else researching the LAWSON
family? or researching in Gordonsville, AL??

peace....
