The following taken from the ledger of W. L. Pollard of Caldwell County.

Feb 1 1847 Harbired Ladd dr to W.L. Pollard for 1 hundred and thirty lb
of pork at 2 3/4 cts

do 20 lb salt .25c

April 9, 1847 Lazarith Mitchell dr 1500 bush _____.
July 22 1847 settled in full with Mitchell by W. Rags____.
February 12 1849 Virginia W. Pollard went to board at Elizabeth Princes
for to go to school to Wm. Butcher. Board at 72 1/2 cts a weak & tution
1 dollar a month.

July 14 lost time 8 days August to show__g
Sept 21 Virginia quit school
Jan 30 1850 Paid tinn dollars for Virginias board
August Paid 6 dollars to H. Tandey - Virginia W's board

Sent a note of hand on S. (L?) Wall for $166.49 principle, intrus $4.60.
The note due April 1 1841 by T. W. Griffith for collection Oct 11 1852

March 30 1854 W. L. Pollard bought of Miles Cato:
420 lb of shugar
Oct 16 3 lb of coffee at 13 l/1 cts a pound
May 16 one bail spun yarn
May 17 3 yard of domestick at 12 1/2 cts
one gallon of whiskey 40cts
powder att 33 cts a pound
1 yd of alpackor at 40 ct
10 ct thread & 25 cts buttons
1 gallon of Vinegar 25 - two scanes silk 10 cts.

May 26, 1849 Thomas Lang stated he was agoing to quit drinking of
spirites.
