Claude Gilliland, who lives near Cadiz, was informed last week of the death
of his uncle, B.F. Gilliland, who was a resident of Hopkins county. The
MADISONVILLE HUSTLER of monday 21 had the following to say:

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN GILLILAND, 82, a St. Charles resident 60 years died at his
home at 7 o'clock this morning from the effects of a stroke caused five
hours earlier by a clot ont he brain. He was born three miles south of St.
Charles on Mar 15, 1852, the son of A.B. and SARA LINDLEY
GILLAND.(GILLILAND) The family is of Irish origin and traces its first
American ancestor to North Carolina in Colonial days. THOMAS GILLILAND came
to this country soon after his marriage to MARTHA ARMSTRONG, a North
Carolinian. Both are buried in Hopkins county. B.F. GILLILAND was
president of the former Buck Run Coal Co., and also bookkeeper before the
West Ky Coal Co., purchased the holdings of the company. Mrs. Gilliland
died years ago and the survivors are one son, MAX GILLILAND of St. Charles,
and a half-brother, JOSEPH GILLILAND of the Carbondale section.
