It is my understanding that the family group sheets that were submitted in
the 1970s became what is now the Ancestral File. Given this information, I
don't think that checking microfilmed copies of these records would prove
more useful than looking them up on AF.
If you are successful in determining how to find LDS membership records,
please post your experience to the list. I have received many inquiries
about how to do this, but have never heard of anyone actually finding them.
In this church of record keepers, you would think that locating your LDS
ancestors would be easier.

Hi Kathy,
I think you should check the microfilmed copies of the family group sheets
that were submitted in the 1970's during the three and four generation
submittal program to see if the person is listed there. To find what ward
the person was in the only idea I have is to write to the Church Office
Building in Salt Lake [50 East North Temple SLC, UT 84150] maybe the
Special Services or Membership department could help you.

particular person left a Family File or Temple Submissions before there was
computers and are not identified as such in the IGI or Ancestral File?
