Subject: [LDS-WC-L] Question

I had a sister in the ward approach me today asking about the
possibility of doing the temple work for a very good friend she had
years ago who is now deceased. I explained to her about the rights of
precedence and how immediate family who is still living must still give
their consent. She said she didn't have a clue where or if any living
next of kin was still alive, even who they might be. I told her then,
by rights, she could not do the work. She then asked me how this
person's temple work would ever get accomplished. I told her it might
get done through the extraction program the Church has continuously on
going. She then asked me a TOUGH question: What's the difference
between the Church doing someone's work through the extraction program
(without permission of living family) and her doing it herself?

Anyone have an answer for her?
