I believe that Family History Specialists is a general term, and may have
been used to describe a specific calling in the past. However, the handbook
, Administrative Guide fo Family History Centers, and the Family History
Center Operations Guide all refer to personnel as "staff members" whether
they "... serve on a called or volunteer basis..." (Family History Center
Operations Guide p.7 Section 3)
Hope this helps,
Richard Holien - Director
Salt River Stake Family History Center
Mesa, AZ

This may be the wrong place to ask, but here goes. Our new Family History
Center Director called last night to ask if staff in Family History Centers
are still called Family History Specialists. She and the Stake Presidency
could not put there finger on a current document that used the term! I went
to my Ch 9, of Vol 2 of the Melch. Priesthood Handbook and discovered only
a reference to Staff! The director claims that she could not find the term
used in the Family History Operations manual either. Its been a couple of
years since I was on the FHCenter staff so this took me by surprize! Any
references you have would be great!
